Brent Vreeland, Transportation of Child Porn, Massachusetts 2024

BOSTON – Brent Vreeland, a 36-year-old resident of Ashland, Massachusetts, has been hit with a federal indictment for his alleged involvement in child pornography. The grim charges include transportation of child porn, receipt, and possession.

Vreeland faces serious penalties if convicted, with sentences reaching up to 20 years in prison on each count. The case took an international turn when he was flagged at Boston’s Logan Airport upon returning from Reykjavik, Iceland, last October.

During a thorough review of his cell phone, investigators found around 30 media files depicting child sexual abuse material, including exchanges with unknown Telegram users. One such exchange involved Vreeland seeking to trade for the youngest available content, authorities said.

According to charging documents, Vreeland was also accused of distributing three videos that depicted the abuse of minors aged four to ten years old in October 2021. The investigation began over a year ago when the disturbing content came to light.

The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide effort to combat child sexual exploitation. It underscores the relentless pursuit of justice by federal law enforcement, led by U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley and Special Agent in Charge Michael J. Krol of Homeland Security Investigations New England.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Allegra Flamm will lead the prosecution. The defendant will be arraigned on July 17, 2025, at 11:30 a.m., in federal court in Boston.
