Brent Vreeland, Child Pornography Production and Distribution, Massachusetts 2024

BOSTON – Grimy Times has learned that Brent Vreeland, a 36-year-old resident of Ashland, Massachusetts, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges related to the production and distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

Vreeland, who stands accused of transporting, receiving, and possessing child pornography, will face arraignment in federal court on July 17, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. Since his arrest on April 23, 2025, Vreeland has been held in federal custody.

The charges stem from an incident in October 2024 when Vreeland was flagged for secondary screening upon returning to Boston from Reykjavik, Iceland. Officials discovered child pornographic images and videos within his Telegram Messenger app, with approximately 30 media files depicting CSAM exchanged through direct messages with unknown users.

It is alleged that Vreeland distributed three videos depicting the abuse of minors aged four to ten years old in October 2021. One disturbing exchange revealed his request for CSAM files involving the youngest victims he could find. The charges against Vreeland carry potential sentences of up to 20 years in prison and fines reaching $250,000.

United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Michael J. Krol, Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations in New England, announced the indictment today. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Allegra Flamm of the Major Crimes Unit. Customs and Border Patrol, Boston Division, provided valuable assistance.

This investigation is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide effort to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice. For more information on Project Safe Childhood, visit https://www.justice.gov/psc.

The charges contained in the charging documents are allegations. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
