Jamarce Miller, Heroin Sale, Ohio 2012

JAMARCE MILLER OF ASHTABULA, a man whose greed knows no bounds, was today handed a 13-year prison sentence for the cold-blooded sale of heroin that led to the tragic death of an Ashtabula woman last year. United States Attorney Steven M. Dettelbach revealed this harsh judgment against Miller, who had previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute heroin.

Miller’s crime was more than just drug dealing; it was a calculated move that left behind a heartbroken family and a community in mourning. The victim, a young woman, lost her life after ingesting the deadly substance sold by Miller. ‘Today there is a young girl being raised without a mother because of the heroin sold by Jamarce Miller,’ Dettelbach somberly commented.

The DEA’s Cleveland office Resident Agent Geno Corley echoed the sentiment, labeling Miller as ‘the typical drug dealer that routinely does not consider the consequences of his actions.’ The relentless pursuit of justice has once again shown its teeth, with Miller now paying for his heinous act. ‘DEA and its law enforcement partners will continue to investigate and ultimately stop the reign of terror by the Jamarce Millers of the world,’ Corley declared.

Miller was an active member of a conspiracy led by Rayshawn Reed, who orchestrated the importation of multiple kilograms of heroin into Northeast Ohio from Chicago between March 2012 and August 15, 2012. The drug was then distributed to Miller and others in Ashtabula for resale. It was this batch that resulted in the fatal overdose of an Ashtabula-area resident on July 7, 2012.

Reed, along with Miller and nine other individuals, have been found guilty for their roles in the conspiracy. Reed himself received a sentence of 14 years in prison. This case is a testament to the collaborative efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and local police departments.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Vasile Katsaros and Linda Barr are leading this prosecution, which follows an exhaustive investigation by DEA and FBI agents. Joining them in the fight against drug trafficking were the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office, the Ashtabula Police Department, the Trumbull/Ashtabula Group Task Force (TAG), the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCI), the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
