Jeffrey A. Stanley, 27, was indicted in federal court on child pornography charges, according to a recent indictment in Ohio.
Stanley, an Ashtabula man, was charged with one count of receipt of visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct and one count of possession of child pornography.
The indictment states that Stanley knowingly received numerous images of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct between Sept. 4, 2016 and Feb. 22, 2017.
On Feb. 22, 2017, Stanley possessed a Motorola cellular telephone that contained child pornography, according to the indictment.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Carol M. Skutnik is prosecuting the case, which was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office.
An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is entitled to a fair trial in which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
Stanley faces a maximum sentence of 20 years for the receipt of visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct and 20 years for possession of child pornography, with both counts to run concurrently.
