Atari Brown Sentenced for Huntington Drug Ring Leadership

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – United States Attorney Carol Casto announced the sentencing of Atari Seantay Brown, 39, a Detroit native, to 11 years and three months in federal prison for leading a sprawling drug ring across multiple states.

Brown’s reign of terror began in Huntington, where he orchestrated the transportation of massive quantities of heroin and cocaine from Michigan. His downfall came after agents made several controlled purchases of drugs from him during an extensive investigation.

On September 2, 2016, Brown was caught selling 10 grams of heroin to a DEA informant for $1,200 in an apartment used as a drug stash and distribution point. He also admitted to possession of firearms and leadership of the conspiracy.

Sean Lee Braggs, 27, from Dearborn, Michigan, received five years for his role in distributing heroin and transporting drugs between Michigan and Huntington. During a traffic stop, agents uncovered $181,490 in cash hidden in Braggs’ vehicle, proceeds from drug sales in Huntington.

Deandra Sheen Jones, 42, of Farmington Hills, Michigan, was sentenced to one year and three months for conspiracy to distribute heroin and crack. Jones played a crucial role in transporting drugs and money between Michigan and Huntington, including facilitating the delivery of 100 grams of heroin to Brown and 1 kilogram of cocaine to Huntington.

Samuel E. Nelson, III, 37, from Louisville, was sentenced to two and a half years for possession with intent to distribute heroin. Nelson transported large quantities of the drug to Louisville from Brown in Huntington.

The arrests followed an extensive investigation that led to searches at eight locations, including homes in Detroit and Huntington, resulting in the seizure of substantial amounts of drugs and cash.
