SYRACUSE, NEW YORK – Anthony Deyoe, 45, of Au Sable Forks, New York, has confessed to a depraved act: the distribution, receipt, and possession of child pornography. The guilty plea, entered yesterday, lays bare a pattern of predatory behavior that authorities say spanned months and involved online networks designed to facilitate the abuse of children.
According to court documents, Deyoe engaged in the exchange of horrific material with other users via a social networking application on his phone in June of 2024. Just months later, in December 2024, a law enforcement search of his device uncovered a sickening trove of images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of children. This wasn’t a first offense; Deyoe already carried the weight of prior convictions in New York State – a 2008 conviction for Criminal Sexual Act in the Third Degree, and another in 2018 for Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child.
“Protecting children is my top priority,” stated U.S. Attorney John A. Sarcone III, a statement that rings hollow when faced with the continued prevalence of these crimes. “I am thankful to HSI and the NYSP for their partnership and assistance in bringing this defendant to justice. Every child should feel safe, and my office will do whatever it can to make sure that happens.” But justice, in this case, will require more than words – it demands a substantial prison sentence.
Erin Keegan, Special Agent in Charge of the Buffalo Field Office of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), minced no words about Deyoe’s actions. “Through his admitted crimes, Anthony Deyoe placed his own abhorrent desires above the safety of child victims,” she said. “HSI Rouses Point is committed to working with our partners in pursuit of justice for the innocent minor population who are victimized by online perpetrators.” The investigation, conducted by HSI with support from the New York State Police and the Tri-County Special Response Team (Clinton, Essex, and Franklin Counties), highlights the collaborative effort needed to combat this insidious crime.
Deyoe now faces a grim reckoning. Sentencing is scheduled for November 5, 2025, in Utica, New York. He could receive anywhere from 15 to 40 years imprisonment for each of the receipt and distribution counts, and 10 to 20 years for possession. On top of that, Deyoe is looking at a potential fine of up to $250,000, a minimum of 5 years – potentially life – of supervised release, and continued registration as a sex offender. The final sentence will be determined by the judge, factoring in sentencing guidelines and the specifics of the case.
