Euriah Hymes, a 23-year-old from Aurora, Colorado, went on a terrifying crime spree, committing 12 armed robberies of convenience stores across the Denver Metro area between January 17 and February 14, 2024. Hymes threatened workers with a gun, demanding cash and stealing tobacco products. The robberies spanned three counties, leaving a trail of traumatized victims in their wake.
The investigation, led by the FBI Denver Field Office and the Safe Streets Task Force, involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Broomfield, Westminster, Federal Heights, Thornton, Denver, and Aurora police departments. The evidence gathered led to Hymes’ guilty plea on two counts of Hobbs Act robbery and two counts of brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.
United States District Judge Gordon P. Gallagher sentenced Hymes to 16 years in federal prison, a significant sentence that reflects the severity of his crimes. The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in communities.
The sentence was welcomed by law enforcement officials, who emphasized the importance of holding violent criminals accountable. The community can now feel safer, knowing that Hymes will be off the streets for a significant time.
