Austin Lineback, 59, has been locked up for a decade for his sickening crime. The Covington man was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for possession of child pornography. The harsh sentence was handed down by a federal judge on July 18, 2025.
The crime of possession of child pornography is a serious offense that involves the illegal storage or distribution of images or videos depicting minors in a sexual manner. Lineback was found guilty of this charge after a two-day trial in January 2025. The jury delivered a guilty verdict on the one-count indictment.
According to the evidence presented in court, detectives with the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at Lineback’s home on January 30, 2023. The search yielded multiple electronic storage devices that contained images of child sexual abuse material. The devices were examined forensically, and the incriminating evidence was used to build the case against Lineback.
Lineback’s case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The program brings together federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children and to identify and rescue child victims of sexual exploitation.
The case against Lineback was investigated by detectives with the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office and agents with the FBI’s Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force. Assistant United States Attorneys Lynn Crum, Eileen Kuo, and Lauren Delery prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.
As a result of Lineback’s conviction, he was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison and will be subject to lifetime supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system. This sentence serves as a warning to others who would engage in similar crimes.
