Port Arthur Woman Lands 30-Year Federal Prison Sentence for Child Exploitation

BEAUMONT, Texas – The Eastern District of Texas just got a whole lot darker, thanks to the egregious actions of one Sasha Sheree Abshire, 36, from Port Arthur. The woman has been sentenced to a whopping 30 years in federal prison for producing child pornography, a heinous crime that has left an indelible mark on the community.

On June 24, 2025, U.S. District Judge Michael Truncale handed down the sentence to Abshire, who had previously pleaded guilty to production of child pornography. This damning admission marked the beginning of the end for the woman, who had been accused of pushing the boundaries of depravity with her sickening crimes.

According to court documents, law enforcement authorities received a tip in July 2024 that a pre-school age child’s sexually explicit photos were being peddled online by an individual with a screen name linked to Abshire. Further investigation revealed that Abshire had indeed sent child pornography images from her cell phone, which was later confirmed to be in her possession.

The disturbing images in question featured an adult woman’s face, which, unfortunately, was later confirmed to be Abshire’s. Social media accounts belonging to the defendant only served to further incriminate her, as they revealed a pattern of behavior that was nothing short of repulsive.

The case against Abshire was brought to the forefront as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to combat the scourge of child sexual exploitation and abuse. This commendable effort has led to the coordination of federal, state, and local resources to identify and prosecute individuals who exploit children online, as well as rescue victims.

Abshire’s case was a collaborative effort between the FBI and the Port Arthur Police Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Rachel Grove leading the prosecution. The sentence handed down to Abshire serves as a stark reminder that child exploitation will not be tolerated in this country, and those who commit such atrocities will be held accountable for their heinous crimes.
