Austin school bookkeeper Alysa Dietz Gisser, 56, swindled over $1 million from a non-profit private school in Austin, Texas, between 2018 and 2021.
Gisser, who worked as a bookkeeper and accountant for the school, used her consulting business’s PayPal account to misdirect funds from parents’ tuition payments. She also altered the school’s accounting files to conceal her scheme.
The school’s funds were transferred to Gisser’s personal bank account, where she used them to make credit card and mortgage payments, and even install an in-ground swimming pool at her home.
Between 2018 and 2021, Gisser underreported her income by $863,963.32. She was charged with one count of wire fraud and one count of tax evasion, and pleaded guilty to both counts on January 13, 2026.
Gisser was sentenced to 33 months in prison and ordered to pay $1,318,684.34 in restitution, as well as a money judgment of $1,049,012.34.
