Baltimore, MD – In a grim verdict today, 33-year-old Donte Williams of Baltimore was found guilty by a federal jury on multiple charges including possession of firearms and drugs. Williams was caught with fentanyl and para-fluorofentanyl, ammunition, and proceeds from drug sales.
The investigation revealed that on September 28, 2022, Williams had over $800 in drug money and a loaded 9mm pistol when he was approached by police in Baltimore’s 500 block of Cumberland Street. A subsequent search of his vehicle yielded more fentanyl gel caps.
Despite numerous prior convictions disqualifying him from firearm possession, Williams faced serious charges. The jury found him not guilty on two counts of firearms possession but convicted him on the drug and firearm trafficking counts.
U.S. Attorney Kelly O. Hayes announced the verdict, commending the ATF and BPD for their efforts in bringing this case to trial. Sentencing is set for November 21, where Williams faces life imprisonment and up to 20 years for drug trafficking.
This conviction comes under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which aims to reduce violent crime. Hayes credited Assistant U.S. Attorneys Stanton Lawyer and Patricia McLane with the prosecution of the case.
