Baltimore, Maryland – Jimmie Martin, better known as Doodles, is facing a federal indictment after being charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.
The charges stem from an incident on March 6, 2020, where Martin was found with a handgun equipped with an extended magazine that could hold up to 30 cartridges of ammunition, along with 29 rounds. The indictment also alleges the presence of cocaine with intent to distribute.
According to officials, Martin has prior felony convictions, which make his possession of the firearm illegal. If convicted on all counts, he faces a life sentence for using a gun in connection with drug trafficking. However, federal sentences are typically less than the maximum penalties, and actual sentences will be determined by a federal district court judge.
The indictment is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which aims to reduce violent crime by coordinating law enforcement efforts and engaging with local communities. It also falls under Project Guardian, an initiative focused on reducing gun violence and enforcing federal firearms laws.
United States Attorney Robert K. Hur thanked the ATF, Baltimore Police Department, State’s Attorney’s Office for Baltimore City, and the Maryland Attorney General’s Office for their roles in this investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Daniel Loveland, Jr., and Richard Gallena are handling the prosecution of the case.
