Jonathan Bivins, Illegal Gun Possession, New Mexico 2023

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – In a stunning development, Jonathan Bivins, 42, of Alamogordo, has been sentenced to 21 months in federal prison for the unlawful possession of firearms as a convicted felon.

This sentence comes after Bivins’ arrest by the FBI and local law enforcement on August 31, 2023. During a series of searches targeting the Bandidos Motorcycle Club across New Mexico, agents uncovered a cache of thirteen firearms stashed in a safe at Bivins’ residence.

Despite being aware of his status as a previously convicted felon, which bans him from owning firearms or ammunition, Bivins brazenly violated these restrictions. Following his release from prison, he will be subjected to an additional 3 years of supervised release.

The investigation into the criminal activities of the Bandidos was led by the FBI Albuquerque Field Office and the New Mexico State Police, acting as part of the Outlaw Motorcycle Gang Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Joseph M. Spindle and David B. Hirsch are handling the prosecution of this case.

Today’s announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Alexander M.M. Uballez and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office, underscoring the severity of firearms offenses within the federal system where parole is not an option.
