Local Man Accused of Large-Scale Marijuana Operation
Bangor, ME – A 33-year-old Bangor man has admitted to his role in a massive marijuana conspiracy, federal authorities announced yesterday.
Nicholas Reynolds, 33, of Bangor, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to conspiring to manufacture, distribute, and possess with intent to distribute marijuana.
According to court records, Reynolds was part of a group that illegally manufactured and distributed marijuana from a large, sophisticated indoor growing facility in Frankfort, Maine.
The facility, which was the site of a federal search warrant in May 2016, contained an astonishing 400 marijuana plants, 295 marijuana root balls, and a variety of paraphernalia used to manufacture and process marijuana.
Reynolds and his co-conspirators were not registered as medical marijuana caregivers with the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, and the facility’s location was not reported to the agency.
Reynolds faces up to 20 years in prison, between three years and life of supervised release, and a $1,000,000 fine. He will be sentenced after the completion of a presentence investigation report by the U.S. Probation Office.
The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, which uncovered the complex marijuana operation.
