The grim halls of justice were echoing with the words ‘robbery’ this morning as United States Attorney Erica H. MacDonald announced charges against COURTNEY JOHN BARRETT, JR., 30, and ROBERT LEE JOURDAIN, SR., 25.
BARRETT and JOURDAIN, both residents of Red Lake, Minnesota, were arrested and faced their first court appearance later today before Magistrate Judge Jon T. Huseby in U.S. District Court in Bemidji, Minnesota.
The allegations against them are chilling: on May 1, 2019, the duo is accused of entering the Snack Shack on the Red Lake Indian Reservation with intentions to steal. Armed with a metal pipe and a firearm, BARRETT held a terrifying threat over an employee’s head while JOURDAIN threatened cash from the register and an employee’s purse.
This harrowing incident has been the subject of an extensive investigation by the Red Lake Tribal Police Department and the FBI Headwaters Safe Trails Task Force. Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Gina L. Allery will be prosecuting the case, ensuring that justice is served for this violent crime.
Both defendants face a single count of robbery in this heart-wrenching case.
COURTNEY JOHN BARRETT, JR., 30, and ROBERT LEE JOURDAIN, SR., 25, their names now synonymous with the Snack Shack heist, are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The community of Red Lake is left in shock as the law seeks to bring these men to justice.
