CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – A Morgantown man has been handed a 3-year prison sentence for his involvement in a counterfeiting scheme, according to a recent court ruling.

Barry Eugene Dragovich, 37, was discovered in Monongalia County, West Virginia in October 2014 with a large quantity of counterfeit United States currency. The counterfeits were seized by law enforcement, and Dragovich subsequently pleaded guilty to one count of “Possessing Counterfeit Obligations and Securities” in January 2015.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Shawn Morgan, who prosecuted the case on behalf of the government, hailed the guilty plea as a major success in the fight against counterfeiting.

U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley presided over the case, handing down a 37-month prison sentence for Dragovich’s crimes.

The case serves as a stark reminder of the severity of counterfeiting and the consequences that come with it. As authorities continue to crack down on counterfeiters, residents are reminded to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.

With his sentence now finalized, Barry Eugene Dragovich will soon begin serving his time for his role in the counterfeiting scheme.
