William Bennett, Firearm and Drug Trafficking, Pennsylvania 2023

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — The grim streets of Pittsburgh are once again echoing with the sound of justice as William Bennett, also known as Bucks, faces a federal indictment for his relentless pursuit of drug trafficking and illegal firearm possession.

According to United States Attorney Scott W. Brady, Bennett was charged by a federal grand jury on April 30, 2018, for his alleged role in distributing fentanyl and heroin on October 15, 2018. The grim details only intensify as the Indictment reveals that Bennett also unlawfully possessed a Smith & Wesson model CS9 pistol, furthering his drug offense while already a convicted felon.

Bennett’s previous convictions include two for firearms violations and one for receiving stolen property—a man who has shown no regard for the law. Federal law explicitly bars anyone with a prior conviction of over one year’s imprisonment from owning or possessing firearms, yet Bennett brazenly defied this prohibition.

The law dictates that Bennett now faces a severe penalty, not less than five years and up to life in prison, alongside a fine of $1,500,000. Assistant United States Attorney Christy C. Wiegand is tasked with the prosecution of this case, ensuring that justice is served for the communities affected by Bennett’s actions.

The investigation into Bennett’s latest transgressions was led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in collaboration with the Wilkinsburg Police Department. Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a Department of Justice initiative aimed at reducing violent crime, played a pivotal role in this case.

As an accused, Bennett is entitled to the presumption of innocence unless proven guilty. However, if convicted, the consequences will be severe for a man who has already tarnished his record with multiple convictions.
