Abingdon, Va. – The grimy details of a relentless battle against organized crime were etched in stone yesterday as Jeremy Mallory, 42, from Big Stone Gap, received a 14-year sentence for his role in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy.
Mallory was one of the 21 defendants who faced charges for conspiring to distribute over half a kilogram of methamphetamine across Lee and Wise counties, Virginia, and beyond. The sordid saga spanned from July 1, 2016, to May 1, 2019.
In a plea agreement in 2019, Mallory admitted his guilt for conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute the dangerous drug. His sentence was announced by United States Attorney Thomas T. Cullen in U.S. District Court in Abingdon.
Every defendant in this case has now been convicted, either through plea agreements or jury trials, marking a significant victory for law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), alongside the Southwest Virginia Drug Task Force, which includes local sheriffs’ offices and state police, tirelessly pursued this case. Assistant United States Attorneys Lena Busscher, Anthony P. Giorno, and Jonathan Jones prosecuted the matter on behalf of the United States.
