Billy Tyler, Child Pornography Distribution, Alabama 2021

Billy Tyler, a 47-year-old man from Bay Minette, Alabama, has been sentenced to 151 months in prison for distributing child pornography.

According to court documents, Tyler entered a guilty plea to the charges on December 17, 2021.

In January 2021, an undercover FBI agent was part of a group on Kik, a mobile app, with a user who went by the username ‘Mission0101.’ Mission0101 was the administrator of the group and was observed to have distributed five separate child pornography videos of prepubescent females engaged in sexual activity.

Tyler was identified as the user ‘Mission0101’ and was subsequently charged with distribution of child pornography.

United States District Judge Terry F. Moorer imposed a 151-month sentence of incarceration, which is equivalent to approximately 12.5 years in prison.

The judge also ordered Tyler to serve a 25-year term of supervised release upon his discharge from prison. Additionally, Tyler was ordered to pay $15,000 in restitution to his victims and $100 in special assessments.

As a result of his conviction, Tyler will be required to register as a sex offender when he is released from prison and will be prohibited from having any contact with minors.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated this case, and Assistant United States Attorney Kacey Chappelear prosecuted the case.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
