In the sweltering heat of the Arizona desert, a violent showdown unfolded on the dusty streets of Agua Prieta. On Thursday night, June 27, 1929, a brutal fight erupted at the Ranchita, leaving one man, Dudley, badly beaten and cut about the face and head. The brawl, which involved local residents J.D. Wright and his wife, Mrs. Wright, as well as R.C. Evans, had the Agua Prieta police scrambling to restore order.
