Bobby E. Matjeka, Child Pornography, Wisconsin 2024

A San Antonio, Texas man has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for his role in a heinous child pornography case.

Bobby E. Matjeka, 43, was sentenced on November 19, 2024, by Senior United States District Judge William C. Griesbach for his receipt of child pornography.

According to court records, Matjeka engaged in online exchanges with an Appleton woman, encouraging her to send him sexually explicit images of her then 8-year-old daughter.

For approximately one year, Matjeka continued to receive images of the child and made plans to install hidden cameras in her home to remotely view the abuse.

Judge Griesbach described the offense as ‘deplorable and despicable’ in nature, and noted the profound effects that the defendant’s actions imposed upon the victims.

Matjeka will also spend 15 years on supervised release upon the completion of his federal prison sentence and will be required to register as a sex offender under state and federal law.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

The investigation was conducted by the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigations, the Appleton Police Department, and with the assistance of the Department of Homeland Security’s Milwaukee and San Antonio Field Offices.

Assistant United States Attorney Daniel R. Humble prosecuted the case.
