Bobbyjean Orak, 30, Charged with Child Exploitation Offenses in New Jersey

TRENTON, N.J. – In a disturbing case of child exploitation, 30-year-old Bobbyjean Orak, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has been arrested and charged with various offenses, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Alina Habba.

According to documents filed in the case and statements made in court, Orak allegedly used a facility and means of interstate commerce to entice a minor, identified as Victim-1, to engage in sexual activity, including the production of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), starting at least in October 2022. On July 13, 2024, Orak transported Victim-1 from Pennsylvania to New Jersey with the intent to engage in sexual activity.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and local law enforcement recovered the minor in Atlantic County in August 2024. Following Victim-1’s recovery, law enforcement’s investigation of Orak’s cellphone and online accounts revealed that he possessed substantial quantities of CSAM, including images of Victim-1 and other minors.

Orak has been charged with five counts of child exploitation offenses, including transportation with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, interstate travel with intent to engage in a sexual act with a minor, enticement of a minor, production of child pornography, and possession of child pornography. If convicted, Orak faces a mandatory minimum prison sentence of ten years’ imprisonment and a maximum sentence of life imprisonment on Counts One and Three, a maximum sentence of 30 years’ imprisonment on Count Two, a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years’ imprisonment and a maximum sentence of 30 years’ imprisonment on Count Four, and a maximum prison sentence of 20 years’ imprisonment on Count Five.

Acting U.S. Attorney Habba praised the Federal Bureau of Investigation and law enforcement partners for their tireless work on the investigation. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Matt Belgiovine of the Criminal Division in Trenton.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children, as well as to identify and rescue victims.

Orak was arraigned before U.S. Magistrate Judge Matthew J. Skahill in Camden federal court. He is being held without bail. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be filed.
