Bomb Threats Made Against Kodak
A Rochester man has pleaded guilty to making false bomb threats against the Kodak Corporation.
Omer Fadhel Saleh Mohammed, 31, made the threats in a series of phone calls to 911 on September 24, 2012, and January 24, 2013.
In the calls, Mohammed falsely claimed that his acquaintances were terrorists and planned to blow up Kodak facilities, and that an acquaintance had explosives hidden in Rochester.
The 911 calls resulted in emergency responses by the Rochester Police and Fire Departments and Kodak security personnel, but searches failed to turn up any bombs or evidence of a bomb threat.
The investigation was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Brian P. Boetig.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Anthony M. Bruce stated that Mohammed’s actions caused significant disruptions and posed a threat to public safety.
Mohammed faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both, when he is sentenced on April 4, 2014, before U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa.
