Adrian Martinez, Sex Offender Registration Violation, Massachusetts 2024

Boston – Adrian Martinez, a 56-year-old Boston resident, pleaded guilty in federal court for failing to register as a sex offender. Martinez’s shocking admission comes after serving nearly 11 years of a 40-year sentence for multiple counts of child abuse while serving in the U.S. Navy.

Martinez was convicted in April 1998 of sodomy, assault, and intent to rape a minor under the age of 12, among other serious charges. Following his conviction, he was sentenced to serve a lengthy 40-year term. Upon his release in February 2009, Martinez was required by law to maintain his sex offender registration.

However, it appears that Martinez ignored his legal obligation, as evidenced by his failure to notify authorities of a change of address after moving out of his Boston residence. His defiance came to light when he was arrested and charged in April 2025, nearly four years after the alleged offense.

The defendant, classified as a Level 3 sex offender, now faces up to 10 years in prison, at least five years of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000. Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 28, 2025, before U.S. District Court Judge Leo T. Sorokin.

United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Acting United States Marshal for the District of Massachusetts Kevin Neal announced the charges today. Assistant U.S. Attorney Luke A. Goldworm, Project Safe Childhood Coordinator and a member of the Major Crimes Unit, is handling the prosecution of the case. Martinez’s guilty plea is part of the Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood initiative, aimed at protecting children from exploitation and abuse.
