BOSTON – Junior Martinez-Perello, a 25-year-old associate of the D Street Projects gang in South Boston, is facing serious charges after being caught selling a firearm and fentanyl to an undercover law enforcement agent. The brazen deal, which unfolded on May 30, 2025, has sent shockwaves through the city’s underworld.
Martinez-Perello was arrested this morning and ordered detained pending trial following his initial appearance in federal court in Worcester. He is charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute, and distribution of fentanyl, a crime that carries a sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
The charging documents reveal that Martinez-Perello was in direct communication with the undercover agent about the drug and gun deal. It is alleged that he agreed to meet in Boston and boasted of his ability to obtain large quantities of fentanyl and firearms with ease.
During the sting, Martinez-Perello demonstrated the firearm’s safety feature and, despite being instructed not to point it at anyone, negligently fired a round into the floor. This reckless act only serves to underscore the gravity of the charges against him.
United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Scott Riordan, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF), Boston Field Division, announced the charges today. Assistant U.S. Attorney John T. Dawley is prosecuting the case as part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide effort to combat illegal immigration, cartels, and transnational criminal organizations.
The details contained in the charging documents are allegations, and Martinez-Perello is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. As this gritty tale of crime and corruption unfolds, Boston’s streets await justice.
