Grove Man Gets Two Decades for Exploiting a Child
TULSA, Okla. – Dakota Austin Clark, 24, of Grove, Oklahoma, will spend the next two decades behind bars after being sentenced today for horrific crimes against a child. Clark received 240 months imprisonment – that’s 20 years – for Possession of Child Pornography in Indian Country and Production of Child Pornography, U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson announced.
U.S. District Judge Sara E. Hill didn’t mince words, also tacking on 15 years of supervised release following Clark’s incarceration. And it doesn’t stop there. Upon release, Clark will be required to register as a sex offender, a permanent mark of his depravity. The sentence sends a clear message: exploiting children will not be tolerated.
The investigation, which began in February 2023, revealed a chilling pattern of abuse. Clark preyed on a 14-year-old victim, initiating contact through social media. He didn’t just stop at communication; he actively coerced and enticed the minor child into producing sexually explicit photographs. This isn’t about harmless online interaction; it’s about grooming, manipulation, and the irreversible damage inflicted on a young life.
But the depravity didn’t end with the single victim. Law enforcement discovered a sickening hoard of digital evidence. Clark possessed hundreds of images depicting the sexual abuse of minor children – a digital collection of exploitation that speaks volumes about his character. The sheer volume of material underscores the calculated and sustained nature of his crimes.
Clark, a citizen of the Cherokee Nation, will remain in federal custody pending transfer to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons. The investigation was a collaborative effort led by the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Grove Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christian Harris prosecuted the case, bringing a relentless focus to securing this conviction.
This case falls under Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice. The program aims to combat the escalating epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse by pooling federal, state, and local resources. It’s a grim reminder that these crimes are widespread, and vigilance is paramount. More information on Project Safe Childhood can be found at Justice.gov/PSC.
