MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – A Tahlequah resident has copped to a serious firearms charge, setting the stage for a potential lengthy stretch behind bars. Cody Lee Pritchett, 34, faced charges after being caught with an arsenal of illegal weaponry on February 4, 2025.
Pritchett, who has a prior conviction for a crime carrying more than one year’s imprisonment, admitted to possessing a .22 caliber Derringer, a semi-automatic rifle, and a short-barreled rifle, as well as over two hundred rounds of assorted ammunition. His ill-gotten cache included 40 rounds of .22 caliber ammunition, one round of Winchester 12-gauge, and 24 rounds of 9mm.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma has had no qualms about bringing the heavy charges against Pritchett, who now faces up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The ATF led the investigation that resulted in the Indictment, which detailed Pritchett’s dangerous activities.
The court process has moved swiftly; U.S. Magistrate Judge Gerald L. Jackson accepted Pritchett’s guilty plea and ordered a presentence investigation report to be completed. A sentence will be handed down by a District Court Judge after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other factors, leaving little doubt that justice is on its way.
Despite his charges, Pritchett has been released on bond, though under strict conditions. Assistant U.S. Attorney Lewis M. Reagan represented the United States in this case, ensuring a thorough legal battle.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by illegal firearms possession and the stringent measures taken to keep communities safe in Oklahoma.
