Muskogee, Oklahoma – In a shocking turn of events, Javier Ivan Torres, a 29-year-old man from Scottsdale, Arizona, has pleaded guilty to Possession With Intent To Distribute Methamphetamine in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, Torres knowingly and intentionally possessed with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance, on or about December 27, 2018.
The charges against Torres arose from an investigation by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Torres could face a prison sentence of not less than 10 years and up to life imprisonment, as well as a $10,000,000.00 fine, or both.
The Honorable Steven P. Shreder, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report.
Assistant United States Attorney Ryan Heatherman represented the United States in the case.
Torres is currently awaiting sentencing, which will determine the final outcome of his case.
The guilty plea marks another significant victory in the fight against methamphetamine distribution in Oklahoma.
