Bradley Lawson, Methamphetamine Trafficking, Kentucky 2022

LONDON, Ky. – A Kentucky man has been sentenced to 180 months in prison for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking conspiracy. Bradley Lawson, 42, of Nicholasville, was one of the final two defendants to be sentenced in the case.

Lawson was sentenced on Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Claria Horn Boom to 180 months for conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine. He was also sentenced to an additional 12 months and 1 day for violating the terms of his federal supervised release. Lawson had previously been convicted of federal drug felony offenses and was still on supervised release at the time of the new offenses.

According to court documents, Lawson developed relationships with multiple sources of supply of methamphetamine, from whom he regularly obtained methamphetamine for resale. He worked with his co-defendants, Amy Johnson, Jesse Taylor, and Michael Nakonechny, to obtain and distribute the methamphetamine in Laurel and Whitley Counties.

In September 2022, law enforcement conducted a search and discovered two pounds of methamphetamine that they intended to distribute. They also found Lawson in possession of a loaded firearm. Both Lawson and Johnson had previously been convicted of federal drug felony offenses.

Under federal law, Lawson must serve 85 percent of his prison sentence. Upon his release from prison, he will be under the supervision of the U.S. Probation Office for 10 years.

The investigation was conducted by the ATF, KSP, and Laurel County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Drew Trimble prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.

Lawson’s co-defendants, Amy Johnson and Jesse Taylor, were previously sentenced to 68 months and 98 months, respectively. Michael Nakonechny was previously sentenced to 163 months.
