Omaha Man Sentenced for Distribution of Child Pornography
Brandon Lanza, a resident of Omaha, Nebraska, was sentenced to 132 months’ imprisonment for distribution of child pornography, a federal crime.
According to Acting United States Attorney Steven Russell, Lanza was found guilty of distributing child pornography through online platforms, including Discord and Facebook. The chats, which took place in 2019, included discussions of plans to sexually abuse specific children known to Lanza through his personal life.
Investigations revealed that Lanza, who was employed as an IT/Network Administrator at Omaha Public Schools, used his position to access and distribute child pornography. The IP address associated with the child pornography uploads was linked to Lanza’s apartment in Omaha.
Lanza’s sentence also includes 10 years of supervised release after his release from prison. There is no parole in the federal prison system.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project is led by United States Attorney’s Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS).
The case was investigated by the Omaha FBI’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force. Lanza’s actions are a disturbing reminder of the ongoing threat of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
