Omaha Man Jailed for Child Pornography Distribution

An Omaha man has been sentenced to 84 months in prison for distributing child pornography, the Grimy Times has learned.

Jon C. Carr, 38, was sentenced on September 20, 2018, in federal court in Omaha. According to prosecutors, Carr distributed an image of child pornography during an online chat. The image depicted the genitalia of a 2- to 4-year-old girl.

When authorities searched Carr’s residence, they found 200 images of child pornography on his phone, including a Dropbox link that led to more than 50 videos and images of child pornography with victims as young as 2 years old.

A cyber-tip from AOL led investigators to Carr’s IP address. AOL reported that Carr’s IP address had distributed the child pornography image.

Carr was further ordered to pay $3,000 in restitution to the victims depicted in the images. He will serve a 5-year term of supervised release after his release from prison.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The investigation was led by the Omaha FBI’s Cyber Crime Task Force.

An estimated 200 images of child pornography were recovered from Carr’s phone and digital storage. The investigation highlighted the dangers of online child exploitation and abuse.
