Defendant Sentenced to 100 Months for Heroin Trafficking and Firearms Offenses
A local resident has been sentenced to 100 months in prison for his role in a heroin trafficking operation in East St. Louis. Brandy C. Anderson, 33, was found guilty of possessing with intent to distribute heroin and felon in possession of a firearm.
According to court documents, Anderson was arrested on November 24, 2015, with six grams of heroin (1/4 ounce) and a loaded .45 caliber Colt pistol in his possession. This arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the East St. Louis Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.
Anderson’s history of crime caught up with him during this arrest, as he was found to be a convicted felon prior to his November 24, 2015, arrest.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Robert L. Garrison. U.S. Attorney Donald S. Boyce praised the work of law enforcement and the successful prosecution of the case.
The sentence handed down to Anderson is a result of his guilty plea, which was entered on June 17, 2016. Anderson admitted to his crimes during the change of plea hearing, stating that he was aware of the severity of his actions.
