BRIDGEPORT, CT – A 24-year-old Brazilian national, LUIS PETERSON ROHR FERREIRA BORGES, faces a litany of charges after being accused of violently resisting federal officers during his arrest. The charges stem from a series of aggressive encounters with law enforcement in Connecticut.
Ferreira Borges is alleged to have assaulted public safety personnel and caused a breach of peace while on the run for violating immigration laws. After multiple attempts to apprehend him, he was finally caught on June 25, 2025, in Hartford, where he reportedly attacked ERO officers by kicking and biting them during transportation.
The defendant has been charged with assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers or employees, which carries a maximum of eight years in prison. He is also accused of influencing, impeding, or retaliating against a federal official, a charge that could lead to six years behind bars.
Ferreira Borges was detained and appeared in Hartford federal court following his arrest. Assistant U.S. Attorney Neeraj N. Patel is prosecuting the case, which is part of Operation Take Back America, a national initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations.
Despite the charges against him, Ferreira Borges is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, as emphasized by U.S. Attorney David X. Sullivan for the District of Connecticut.
Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Enforcement and Removal Operations are leading the investigation into this violent incident.
