BRECKSVILLE, Ohio – Ravindra Telluri, a 42-year-old Brecksville resident, has been sentenced to nine months of home detention with electronic monitoring and ordered to perform 40 hours of community service for his role in a multimillion-dollar illegal worker hiring scheme.
The United States District Court Judge Dan Aaron Polster also entered the final order of forfeiture against Telluri, totaling $1 million. Telluri pleaded guilty on October 17, 2012, to one count of conspiracy to hire undocumented workers and has been under supervision since.
Telluri, a lawful permanent resident from India, was the sole owner and operator of Hytech Consulting, Inc., and InterOne Corp., two IT firms that hired computer programmer analysts for client firms. The companies were later sold, but Telluri’s involvement in the scheme resulted in significant legal consequences.
Between 2008 and 2010, Telluri conspired with two unindicted coconspirators to recruit Indian citizens as temporary specialty occupation workers using false H-1b visa documentation. He was aware that these documents were fraudulent but proceeded with the hiring process regardless.
The government’s goal is clear: protect legal worker opportunities and level the playing field for honest businesses. ‘Employers who willfully violate our nation’s hiring laws gain an unfair economic advantage over their law-abiding competitors, and they will be held accountable,’ said William Hayes, Acting Special Agent in Charge for Homeland Security Investigations Detroit.
This case sends a strong message to those who might consider similar illegal activities, demonstrating the serious consequences of such actions.
