GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: Child Predator Exposed in Lady Lake

A 36-year-old man from Lady Lake, Florida, has been indicted on charges of producing child pornography, according to a federal indictment unsealed in the Middle District of Florida.

Brian Alan Jones is accused of producing sexually explicit images of a minor, which he sent to an undercover officer posing as a pedophile. The investigation, led by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, uncovered the shocking evidence of Jones’s crimes.

According to court documents, Jones took photographs of the victim’s genitalia on his cellphone and sent them to the undercover officer. If convicted, Jones faces a minimum mandatory penalty of 15 years, and up to 30 years, in federal prison.

An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has violated one or more of the federal criminal laws, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty. The case will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michael P. Felicetta.

The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, along with the United States Attorney’s Office, will continue to work together to bring these perpetrators to justice and protect our children from exploitation. We urge anyone with information about child exploitation to come forward and report it to the authorities.
