Vorarut Vorasiangsuk, 36, Convicted of Child Pornography Receipt and Possession in Florida

Orlando, FL – In a disturbing case of child exploitation, a federal jury has found Vorarut Vorasiangsuk, a 36-year-old respiratory therapist from Orlando, guilty of two counts of receipt of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

Vorasiangsuk faces a minimum mandatory penalty of five years, and up to 20 years in federal prison for each count of receipt of child pornography. He also faces a maximum penalty of 20 years for the possession count.

The sentencing hearing for Vorasiangsuk is scheduled for July 31, 2019. He was indicted on February 13, 2019.

According to testimony presented at trial, in January 2019, the FBI conducted a search warrant at Vorasiangsuk’s residence. At that time, Vorasiangsuk confessed to having used peer-to-peer file-sharing programs to download child pornography from the internet, and he admitted that he had been downloading and viewing child pornography for approximately 15 years.

Vorasiangsuk, who worked primarily with babies at a local healthcare facility for at least 10 years, told the agents that he had been involved in this heinous activity. The FBI recovered nine computer devices from Vorasiangsuk, containing thousands of images of child pornography, including images depicting young children engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Emily C. L. Chang. It was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims. For more information about Project Safe Childhood, please visit www.justice.gov/psc.
