Brian Gidney, Methamphetamine Distribution, Pennsylvania 2020

Grimy Times has learned that Brian Gidney, 51, a resident of Mineral Springs, Pennsylvania, was recently sentenced to 181 months in prison for his role in distributing methamphetamine in the Western District of Pennsylvania.

According to official documents, Gidney was convicted of conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, as well as possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. The charges stem from a period between July 2019 and June 2020.

During this time, Gidney allegedly conspired to distribute and possess with intent to distribute over 500 grams of methamphetamine. On June 9, 2020, it is claimed that Gidney possessed with intent to distribute over 500 grams of the substance and also possessed a firearm in furtherance of his drug trafficking crime.

Gidney was intercepted on a federal wiretap obtaining quantities of methamphetamine that he distributed to others. The investigation, which involved multiple agencies, led to his successful prosecution.

Assistant United States Attorney Maureen Sheehan-Balchon prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti commended the Drug Enforcement Administration and Pennsylvania State Police for their efforts in bringing Gidney to justice.

Rivetti also acknowledged the contributions of other agencies that participated in the investigation, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation, United States Postal Inspection Service, Homeland Security Investigations, Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, Clearfield County District Attorney’s Office, Erie County District Attorney’s Office, Millcreek Police Department, Erie Bureau of Police, and other local law enforcement agencies.

The prosecution is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) investigation, which targets high-level drug traffickers, money launderers, gangs, and transnational criminal organizations.

Gidney’s sentence will be followed by five years of supervised release. A resident of Mineral Springs, Pennsylvania, Gidney was sentenced by United States District Judge Marilyn J. Horan.
