Omaha Man Sentenced to 132 Months for Receipt and Distribution of Child Pornography
In a grim reminder of the devastating consequences of child exploitation, Brian I. Gonzalez, 44, of Omaha, Nebraska, has been sentenced to 132 months’ imprisonment for receipt and distribution of child pornography. The sentence was handed down on October 18, 2024, in federal court in Omaha by Chief United States District Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr.
According to the investigation, in March 2023, a Google User uploaded possible child sexual abuse material on three dates. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) received CyberTips, which were then passed on to the FBI’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force. Law enforcement obtained a search warrant to view the images and confirmed that they depicted child sexual abuse material.
Further investigation revealed that the IP address associated with the CyberTips resolved to Gonzalez’s residence, which he shared with his parents. A search warrant was executed on Gonzalez’s Google account, and images of children engaging in sexually explicit conduct were located. Forensic examination and analysis of Gonzalez’s electronic devices found approximately 350 visually unique media files depicting child sexual abuse material, including 19 videos.
The investigation also revealed that these media files included prepubescent children as young as infant and toddler age engaging in sexually explicit conduct. Gonzalez admitted to downloading, sending, and viewing child sexual abuse material during an interview with law enforcement.
Gonzalez will begin a 5-year term of supervised release after his release from prison. He was also ordered to pay a $1,500 assessment pursuant to the Amy, Vicky, and Andy Child Pornography Victim Assistance Act of 2018 (AVAA).
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. For more information about Project Safe Childhood, please visit www.projectsafechildhood.gov.
