On November 17, 2025, Scott pleaded guilty to a one-count information alleging he accepted money in exchange for smuggling contraband. United States Chief District Judge Sheryl H. Lipman handed down the sentence on May 8, 2026, which includes two years of supervised release.
The case was investigated by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, United States Marshals Service, and the United States Secret Service. Assistant United States Attorneys Lynn Crum, Greg Wagner, and former Assistant United States Attorney Michelle Kimbril-Parks prosecuted the case.
According to United States Attorney D. Michael Dunavant, this sentence aims to deter other corrupt behavior and restore the public’s faith in honest officers, sending a message that nobody is above the law.
