DARRYL MORRIS, alias ‘King Sincere,’ a 32-year-old from Bridgeport, has pleaded guilty to sex trafficking of a minor in Connecticut. The United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, Deirdre M. Daly, announced this grim development.
Morris met the victim, then 15, working as a prostitute in New York in November 2014. He coerced her into moving to Bridgeport and used Backpage.com to post advertisements offering her services. The girl was forced to see customers at Morris’s residence and traveled with him to various states, including Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Washington, D.C.
From November 2014 to May 2016, the minor worked as a prostitute for Morris, seeing approximately 10 customers per day. During this time, he engaged in sexual activity with her and subjected her to beatings.
The girl was rescued on May 2, 2016, after contacting her mother, who alerted the police. She had visible scars and signs of physical abuse. Morris has been detained since his arrest on August 16, 2016.
Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer set sentencing for September 8, 2017, where Morris faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years to life imprisonment, with a maximum fine of $250,000. He also agreed to pay restitution of $100,000, estimated earnings from her time in prostitution with him.
This case is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and local police departments. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarala V. Nagala is prosecuting the case.
