Blaklee Buchanan, Making False Material Declarations, Virginia 2024

ABINGDON, VA – Blaklee Buchanan, 27, of Bristol, Virginia, traded truth for loyalty, and now faces federal prison time. Buchanan pled guilty today in federal court to one count of making false material declarations under oath – a blatant attempt to cover for her boyfriend and obstruct justice.

The lie unfolded during a supervised release revocation hearing for Bradford Loudy. Buchanan took the stand on June 13, 2023, and was directly questioned about a brutal assault that occurred on March 23, 2023. Instead of telling the truth about Loudy’s violence, Buchanan constructed a web of falsehoods, repeatedly denying that Loudy had laid a hand on her.

“He never touched me,” Buchanan swore under oath when asked if Loudy had physically assaulted her. The denials continued, even when pressed about specific acts of violence. “No,” she stated firmly when asked if Loudy had hit her with a sandal, bashed her head against a retaining wall, pushed her down, kicked her, or otherwise struck her. She went further, dismissing the accounts of multiple witnesses who had seen the assault as fabricated. “You’re saying these ladies just made up this story about your boyfriend beating you?” the prosecutor asked. Buchanan’s chilling response: “Yes. I have no clue who they are. He doesn’t beat me. He did not beat me. He did not hit me.”

The court record clearly shows Buchanan’s testimony was a deliberate deception. At least two witnesses corroborated the assault, directly contradicting Buchanan’s claims. Despite this, she doubled down, adding, “No, he did not assault me on May or March 23.” Buchanan’s willingness to perjure herself to protect Loudy speaks volumes about the dynamics of the abusive relationship and the lengths to which victims will go to shield their abusers.

Buchanan’s calculated dishonesty now carries a steep price. She faces up to five years in prison at her sentencing, scheduled for October 28, 2025. This case isn’t just about a lie told in court; it’s about the silencing of a victim and the obstruction of justice in a case of domestic violence. Acting United States Attorney Zachary T. Lee announced the guilty plea, vowing to hold those who tamper with the legal process accountable.

Assistant United States Attorney Danielle Stone is prosecuting the case. While this plea secures a conviction for Buchanan, the focus now shifts to Loudy and whether the revelations will impact his supervised release status and potentially lead to further charges. Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and report on any developments.
