Brittney Nicole Schmidt, Involuntary Manslaughter, Oklahoma 2024

A 28-year-old Colbert resident has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in Indian Country, a federal crime that carries a maximum sentence of eight years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Brittney Nicole Schmidt entered her guilty plea in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma in Muskogee to one count of involuntary manslaughter in violation of 18 United States Code Sections 1151, 1153, and 1112.

According to court documents, on or about August 15, 2018, within the Eastern District of Oklahoma in Indian Country, Schmidt unlawfully killed another human being while operating a motor vehicle under the influence of one or more intoxicating substances.
