MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – A Baltimore, Maryland woman has admitted to distributing fentanyl, United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II announced.
Briya Nychelle Harrington, 26, pleaded guilty today to one count of ‘Aiding and Abetting Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl.’ Harrington admitted to working with another to distribute fentanyl in March 2021 in Hampshire County.
Harrington faces up to 20 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $1,000,000. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Lara Omps-Botteicher is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The Potomac Highlands Drug Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, investigated.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert W. Trumble presided over the case.
Harrington, a resident of Baltimore, Maryland, will be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Gina M. Groh at a later date.
The guilty plea and resulting sentence are subject to federal sentencing guidelines and the discretion of the sentencing judge.
