BOSTON – A self-admitted gang member from Brockton, Andre McNeil, 35, who was convicted of a 17-year-old’s murder outside a Roxbury high school, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for drug trafficking and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
U.S. District Court Judge Patti B. Saris imposed the sentence on McNeil, following his guilty plea to possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. The charges stemmed from an April 2025 indictment by a federal grand jury.
McNeil’s downfall began on Feb. 2, 2024, when law enforcement executed searches on his vehicle and associated residences. They seized approximately 31 grams of cocaine, three handguns, multiple magazines, over 100 rounds of ammunition, nearly $17,500 in cash, and various drug paraphernalia.
McNeil’s criminal history includes a 2014 manslaughter conviction that resulted from the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy. This prior offense makes him prohibited from possessing firearms under federal law.
The investigation was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Boston Division, with valuable support from the Massachusetts State Police and local police departments in Brockton, Foxboro, and Taunton. Assistant U.S. Attorney John Dawley of the Organized Crime and Gang Unit prosecuted the case.
