United States Attorney Damian Williams announced today the sentencing of Silfredo Castillo Martinez, a Bronx daycare operator, to 25 years in prison for producing child pornography and sexually exploiting a minor under his care. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Paul A. Engelmayer.
The harrowing case revealed that Martinez, 34, had been recording sexual abuse of an 11-year-old girl at his daycare facility, where he owned and operated the licensed establishment from July 2015 until May 3, 2022.
In a statement, Williams emphasized the gravity of the crime, stating, ‘This lengthy prison sentence holds Castillo Martinez accountable for his horrific crimes and the extraordinary harm and trauma he caused.’
During the investigation, law enforcement agents seized several electronic devices from Martinez’s residence. The devices contained numerous images and videos depicting child pornography, including footage of the minor victim-1, as well as approximately 9,800 other images of child pornography.
In addition to his prison term, Castillo Martinez was sentenced to a lifetime of supervised release. His actions have not gone unnoticed by law enforcement agencies such as the U.S. Secret Service’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the New York City Police Department.
The Office’s General Crimes Unit is handling this case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Jackie Delligatti leading the prosecution.
