The incident in question occurred during an encounter with NYPD officers on the Belt Parkway near Rockaway Parkway.
At around 8:10 p.m., Mr. Wright was involved in a confrontation with members of the police force, resulting in his being shot by one of the officers. Subsequently, he was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.
