Bruce Brown, Sex Trafficking, Massachusetts 2020

BOSTON — In a disturbing case of human exploitation, Bruce Brown, 43, of Boston, has pleaded guilty to various sex trafficking charges.

Brown, also known as “Arki,” was originally indicted in February 2020. He was subsequently charged in a superseding indictment in June 2020 with obstruction of justice and witness tampering, dubbed his scheme “Plan B.”

The defendant was again charged in a second superseding indictment in July 2020. He pleaded guilty to sex trafficking of a minor; transportation of a minor for purposes of prostitution; two counts of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion; obstruction of justice; and witness tampering.

The charges against Brown provide for a range of sentences, including up to life in prison, five years of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000. The charge of sex trafficking of a minor carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years.

U.S. District Court Judge Patti B. Saris scheduled sentencing for February 10, 2022. Acting United States Attorney Nathaniel R. Mendell and Joseph R. Bonavolonta, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Boston Division, made the announcement today.

The Newton Police Department provided valuable assistance in the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Mackenzie A. Queenin and Mackenzie J. Duane of Mendell’s Civil Rights Enforcement Team are prosecuting the case.
