Massachusetts Man Charged with Child Pornography Offenses

A disturbing case has come to light in Massachusetts, where a 70-year-old man has been charged with distributing and possessing child pornography. Bruce Singer, of Southampton, Massachusetts, has been accused of engaging in a series of acts involving electronic child pornography files between April 30, 2013, and June 25, 2015.

According to an indictment, Singer distributed and received child pornography files multiple times during the aforementioned period. The indictment further alleges that he possessed over a dozen child pornography files. The charges and allegations contained in an indictment are merely accusations, and Singer is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

The investigation into Singer’s activities was led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Alex J. Grant of the District of Massachusetts, Springfield Branch Office, and Trial Attorney Leslie Fisher of the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS). This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Project Safe Childhood was launched in May 2006 by the federal government, and it aims to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet. The announcement of the charges was made by a group of federal and local law enforcement officials, including Acting Assistant Attorney General Kenneth A. Blanco, Acting United States Attorney William D. Weinreb, and Special Agent in Charge Harold H. Shaw of the FBI’s Boston Division. The officials worked together to bring about the charges against Singer.
