A 14-year-old boy from New Mexico was brutally sexually abused by two men on the Navajo Nation. Bryan Bull, 40, of Shiprock, New Mexico, and an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison for his role in the abuse.
According to court records, on June 3, 2019, Bull used intimidation and force along with Jeremiah Elijah Jim, 32, of Teec Nos Pos, Arizona, and an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, to sexually abuse the minor. The abuse took place in Shiprock on the Navajo Nation.
Bull pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual abuse on August 30, 2021. This plea agreement was the result of a thorough investigation by the Farmington Resident Agency of the FBI’s Albuquerque Field Office with assistance from the Navajo Nation Police Department.
Jim pleaded guilty to sexual abuse of a minor and was sentenced on October 27, 2021, to 24 years in prison. He was also required to register as a sex offender.
Bull will be subject to five years of supervised release after his prison sentence is completed. He will also be required to register as a sex offender. The severe sentence handed down to Bull serves as a warning to those who would prey on the vulnerable in our communities.
The case serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting our children and holding perpetrators accountable for their actions. The Navajo Nation, along with law enforcement agencies, must continue to work together to prevent such crimes from happening in the future.
