Deming Man Accused of Production of Child Pornography
A shocking case of child exploitation has come to light in Deming, New Mexico. Guillermo Rodriguez Garcia, a 39-year-old resident, has been accused of producing child pornography. The disturbing allegations were made after a thorough investigation by law enforcement.
According to a criminal complaint, police responded to an incident on May 18, 2020, related to an accusation of sexual abuse of children. Following follow-up interviews, Garcia was arrested on January 26, 2021, on a New Mexico state charge of criminal sexual penetration of the first degree.
A search of Garcia’s cellphone identified two videos as potential child pornography. The videos, from August 26 and 27 of 2019, allegedly show Garcia engaging in sexual conduct with a 12-year-old victim.
The production of child pornography is a serious offense, punishable by law. If convicted, Garcia faces a minimum of 15 years and up to 30 years in prison.
The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations, with assistance from the Deming Police Department and the 6th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Marisa A. Ong is prosecuting the case.
Guillermo Rodriguez Garcia, 39, of Deming, New Mexico, will remain in custody pending a detention hearing scheduled for March 1.
